The purpose of the EpiPen Take Action Events is to create awareness of allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis and to bring the allergic community together to raise funds for research and education into allergic disease.
The AAIA creates safer environments and improves quality of life for Canadians affected by allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis by empowering individuals and providing education, leadership, and a national voice.
Who we are
The Allergy/Asthma Information Association (AAIA) is a federally registered Canadian charity (Charitable # 131-765-174-RR0001). We were founded in 1964 by a group of parents whose children had severe allergies.
We are the only Canadian patient association that deals with all aspects of allergy, including asthma, allergic rhinitis and anaphylaxis. In this capacity, we strive to be the best possible resource for services and information.
We are active in all provinces and territories through our national office in Toronto, five well-established regional offices and a dedicated network of volunteers, including our board of directors. All of our publications, our web site and our national programs are available in English and in French.
A substantial portion of the proceeds from the EpiPen® TAKE ACTION Event are donated to the Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation (CAAIF). In the past ten years the AAIA has provided over $560,000 from various sources to the CAAIF to fund research and patient education.
What is anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis is a severe potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that requires immediate medical attention.
